Method 1: Problems in activation:

To reactivate Windows 10, please ensure you are using an administrator account to complete the process.

Step 2: Click on Update & Security.

Step 3: Click on Activation.

Step 4: Under “Windows” section, click the Troubleshoot option.

Step 1: You may want to start by checking for 0x80070057 error before proceeding with this method, if no error is detected press Windows and X key simultaneously.

Step 2: Click on the option Command Prompt (Admin). On clicking this option, a User Account control popup may appear, if so, click yes.

Step 3: Later, type in the following commands mentioned below and make sure to tap Enter after each command.

Net stop uwauserv

Net stop bits

Net stop cryptsvc

Step 4: Make sure all commands run successfully and once that’s done you can close the Command prompt. Now you can proceed to install the update and check if the problem still persists.

Windows 10 has a tool called System File Checker (Sfc), a tiny but powerful command line utility that checks the system for such corrupted files and replaces them with a fixed version of it.

Step 2: Select Command Prompt (Admin).

Result 3: In case System File Checker (sfc) was able to solve the issue by searching and replacing the corrupted file you will receive the message, “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them”. In this case, you may proceed with the updates and explore the system.

Result 4: If you receive the following message then you have to fix the corrupted files manually, “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them”.

Method 6: Using the Dism tool to check of corrupt files

Usually when you encounter random errors during Updating due to the presence of corrupted files in the system, Sfc tool can be used to search such files and replace it. However, if the image of the replacement files doesn’t work, then Deployment image servicing and management (Dism) is used.

You have three options to repair the image of Windows 10 using Dism tool:

  • CheckHealth
  • ScanHealth
  • RestoreHealth

Using CheckHealth option to check the problem,

Step 1: Start with pressing Windows and X keys simultaneously.

Step 2: Click on Command Prompt (Admin).

Step 3: At last, type the command mentioned below in the command prompt box:

DISM/Online /Clean-up image /CheckHealth

Press the Enter button after typing in the command.

Step 4: Once you’re done with the above steps you will find out which of the following files need fixing.

Using ScanHealth option to check the problem,

Step 1: Start with pressing Windows and X keys simultaneously.

Step 2: Click on Command Prompt (Admin).

Step 3: At last, type the command mentioned below in the command prompt box:

DISM/Online /Clean-up image /ScanHealth

Press the Enter button after typing in the command.

Step 4: Once you’re done with the above steps you will get the advanced scan and will get know which of the files need repairing.

Using RestoreHealth option to check the problem,

Step 1: Start with pressing Windows and X keys simultaneously.

Step 2: Click on Command Prompt (Admin).

Step 3: At last, type the command mentioned below in the command prompt box:

DISM/Online /Clean-up image /RestoreHealth

Press the Enter button after typing in the command.

Once you complete the above steps Dism tool will identify the corrupt files and replace them by connecting with Windows Update server.

Method 7: Repair the Opencl.dll File Manually

To do the above follow the below steps mentioned:

Step 1: Ensure you have downloaded the Media Creation tool from the link mentioned below.

Step 2: You can download the Windows 10 Pro ISO using this tool and place it in a temporary folder. Extract the file to the c:\temp\windows folder.

Step 3: Later, you have to convert the install .esd file to install .wim file. Type in the following:

 “Dism /Export-Image /SourceImageFile:c: \temp \windows \sources \install.esd /SourceIndex:1 /DestinationImageFile:c: \ temp \windows \ sources \install.wim /compress:max”.

Step 4: Check index and windows version in .wim file – index is used for next Dism command in parameter:

Dism/Get-WimInfo/wimFile:c:\temp\windows\sources\install.wim

Step 5: Restore Health windows and convert the wim:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:c: \temp \windows \sources \install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

Step 6: Repair corrupted files:

Sfc /scannow

This will fix your corrupted file and you will receive the success message:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.

Step 7: Go to start and press Restart button.

Now you may proceed with your updating. In case you want to make sure about no errors you can again run the command: Sfc /scannow

You will get the following message after scan: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
