Windows 10 Update Error 0x80070422

Sometimes when you are trying to update windows 10, Update Error 0x80070422 is encountered. There are various methods in which one can resolve this issue and make the update possible.  Try following the methods one by one in the sequence, if your issue isn’t resolved by the prior methods.

Restart and try updating the windows 10 after you have followed any method and check if the issue is resolved or not.

Method 1: Check Services

Step1: There are two ways in which you can access the services in your system. Either press (windows keys +R key) and type “services.msc” or directly search for services in the system and then click on view local services.

Step2:  Once the services is opened try to locate some of the services like Network Connections, Windows Firewall, DCOM Server Process Launcher,  BitLocker Drive Encryption Service and make sure that these are in running state.

Step3: If they are not, right click on the particular service go to properties and change their startup type to automatic.

Step4: Click on apply, then on start and finally on Ok.

Bingo! You are good to go.

After this is done, try updating your windows once you have restarted the system.

Method 2: Start Windows Update Service

Windows Update Service is very essential to handle all the processes related to windows update.  There are two ways in which you can access the services in your system. Either press (windows +R) and type “services.msc” or directly search for services in the system and then click on view local services.

Once the services is opened try to locate windows update and make sure that it is in running state. If they are not, right click on the particular service go to properties change their startup type to automatic, click on apply, then click on start and then Ok.

After this is done, try updating your windows once you have restarted the system.

Method 3: Disabling IPv6

Sometimes IPv6 can also generate this problem so try disabling it. Steps for the same are:

Step1- Open Run dialogue box by pressing windows key and R key together

Step2-Type ncpa.cpl  and click on OK

Step3- Right click on your active internet connection  and select Properties

Step4- Find internet protocol version6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box

Step5- click ok

Step6- Restart the computer then try updating the windows again.

Method 4: Enable/Disable Network List Service

Sometimes the initial state of the Network List Service poses a problem in the windows update. Hence depending on the initial state we take the decision of enabling or disabling this service. Follow the following steps in order to do the same:

Step1: There are two ways in which you can access the services in your system. Either press (windows +R) and type “services.msc” or directly search for services in the system  and then click on view local services.

Step2: Once the service is opened try to locate Network List Service.

Step3: Select Automatic from the Start Type drop-down panel, whether the Start Type is either Disabled or Manual. If status is stopped, click Start in the Service Status section.

Step4: Select Disabled if the startup type is either automatic or manual, from the drop-down menu in Startup Form. If the status is running, press Stop in the Service Status section.

Step5: Click on Apply and then Ok
